CanCore Guidelines for Accessibility Elements; DRD Standardization

As announced last summer, a top priority for us has been the completion of a set of CanCore guidelines for metadata elements serving accessibility purposes. We're happy to announce that this work has just been completed, and the guidelines are available at: http://www.cancore.ca/guidelines/drd (These are also available in French: http://www.cancore.ca/lignes_directrices/drn).

These guidelines are based on a standard being finalized by the ISO sub-committee for e-learning standardization and derived from the IMS AccMD (as discussed in a 2005 interview with Jutta Treviranus; http://www.cancore.ca/access.html). In meetings of this sub-committee earlier in March in Finland, this draft standard (http://c1sc36.org/doc/36N1141.pdf) moved a significant step closer to completion --and without any major changes to the elements covered in the CanCore guidelines.
